Bravest Pet in Sussex Awards Finalists 2007

A huge thanks to everyone who took part in our PETS award ceremony for the Bravest Pet in Sussex.

And the winner is…

Sapphie

Sapphie and her owner won a three-night holiday at the pet-friendly Silverdale Hotel in Seaford, along with a professional portrait by top photographer Toni Tye.

Sapphie was hit by a speeding car and sustained extremely severe injuries. As a consequence she had to have six operations to try and fix her. Three of her legs were badly damaged and she now has pins holding her two hind legs and one front leg in place.

For several months she was completely immobile and even had a 'doggie wheelchair' to help her back on her feet! Despite her horrendous injuries, throughout all of her treatment Sapphie has never stopped wagging her tail. She has not lost her mischievous spark and, despite a little wobble as she walks, is still our same little cherished Sapphie!

The other nine brave finalists were presented with goody bags, donated by Doggy Fashion, and a bottle of Petplan champagne.

The awards were presented by Zoë Ball and Marc the Vet, while Safari Pete from the New Paul O'Grady show kept children and adults alike entertained with an assortment of exotic reptiles including a python and even a skunk.

Other attendees included Victoria Stilwell, of It's Me or the Dog, and golfer, Michael Campbell, winner of the US Open.

Through your kind contributions to our raffle we also raised hundreds of pounds for Sussex Pet Rescue and Cat Welfare Sussex.
